Sixth Grade Retreat 2019
At Highlands, our desire is for each child, student, and adult to have biblical friendships and intentional, spiritual conversations. Last weekend, we took over 50 sixth graders away for a 36-hour retreat centered around biblical friendships and spiritual conversations in a setting all kids love: the Great Wolf Lodge. Several Highlands kids invited their friends, many of whom had never heard the gospel before, and countless memories were made as we splashed in the water and shared tasty meals together.
We celebrated the fact that these students are moving up to Middle School Ministries in just a few months. Pastor Nick Atherton and Pastor Derek Nelson both taught about the importance of finding a community around you and taking steps of faith together. We had powerful times of worship—lifting our hands to Our Good Father—and cultivated new relationships in small group times. Students talked about the tough things they are walking through, and our High School leaders shared why being in community is important and what it looks like to follow Jesus in a broken world. We love being a part of a community that prioritizes the next generation. Thank you for praying and helping a new generation find and follow Jesus!
