ANNOUNCING BEN MENEnBERG as executive pastor!
February 24, 2022
Highlands Family, I am excited to announce that Ben Menenberg will be joining our staff to serve as Executive Pastor! As Executive Pastor, Ben will provide leadership to the administration of the church, working to ensure all of our resources are aligned with our mission and values and that our staff is healthy and equipped to faithfully serve.
While this has been in the prayer and planning process for some time, it has become even clearer as we’ve moved toward the decision, that this is a much-needed position for our church. As Executive Pastor, Ben’s background in accounting and non-profit leadership will be an excellent addition to our staff team. He will help us best steward the finances of our church and help us develop our organizational efficiency behind the scenes. Additionally, Ben has a pastor’s heart and strong Bible and theology training, which will serve us well as part of our pastoral care team. His strengths will complement mine and the Lead Team's well, empowering us to operate our ministries more effectively.
Ben’s first official day on staff will be April 18. In his new role, he will continue to serve on the elder board but will no longer serve as the chairman.
Ben has proven himself to be a man filled with the fruit of the Spirit and gifted in areas relevant for this role. Please join me in welcoming him to the staff team at Highlands!
Nate Edmondson Lead Pastor
Learn more about Ben:
Ben is a Certified Public Accountant with deep technical accounting, financial reporting, and non-profit leadership experience. For the last 13 years, he has served in a variety of accounting leadership roles at World Vision, a global Christian humanitarian organization. Prior to that, he spent three years as an auditor for KPMG. In addition to his vocational work, Ben has served as the Board Chair for Special Hope Network, a Christian ministry serving children with intellectual disabilities in Zambia, for the past seven years.
Ben earned his Master of Accounting degree from the University of Southern California and his Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Seminary. Ben and Laura have been members of Highlands Community Church since October 2013, and Ben has been a member of Highlands' elder board since August 2021. At Highlands, they have served in a variety of leadership roles.
A note from Ben:
Laura and I are thrilled to respond to the Lord's calling to begin serving in full-time, vocational ministry at Highlands. From the time Laura, Nathaniel (our oldest son), and I first attended Highlands in July 2013, we felt called to join (and were welcomed by) this loving community marked by faithful Bible preaching, a commitment to global missions, and inclusion of people with special needs. In the years since, our family has grown to include three more sons, and our family has been blessed by a multi-generational ministry which has helped disciple us, Ben's mom, and Ben's late grandparents.
Over the last two years, the Lord graciously re-directed our plans from being full-time missionaries in Zambia to helping to rebuild Highlands. We are inspired by the many who have served the Lord as part of Highlands faithfully for decades, and we look forward to joining with Highlands' staff, leadership, and both old and new members to continue to rebuild, restore, and repair (Isaiah 58:12) the Lord's church.
