Tools to Equip Parents for Family Discipleship
On February 1 & 2, Pastor Jesse taught from Deuteronomy 6 which tells parents to diligently teach their children the ways of God, “when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:7. Pastor Jesse shared some very practical ideas for how parents can apply this in their families as they intentionally disciple their kids. If you missed this message or want to hear it again, here is a clip:
One of the tools Pastor Jesse presented in his message was the Explore the Bible At Home pages. The At Home resource pages are available for you to pick up each week at the check-in kiosks at both Renton and Kent. The At Home page contains information about what your kids (infants through 6 grade) learned in their classrooms on Sunday, including the passage covered, the memory verse and the main text truths. The At Home page also lists the passage which the students and adults covered and the Family Reading Plan for that week.
The bottom half of the page has a section entitled “Family Bible Exploration.” In this portion, you will find a brief overview of the main points communicated to both kids, students, and adults. Here you will discover that there is an overarching big idea for each lesson each week.
We’d like to encourage you to pick up the At Home page each week and use it as a conversation starter with your family. As you instruct your children in the ways of Christ, your own soul will find refreshment in the truths of Scripture. We are thrilled to come alongside you as you shepherd your family!
