We recently celebrated Jeffery Johnson’s 15th anniversary serving on our facilities staff! We’re thankful for his selfless dedication, as he has served our church behind the scenes so faithfully. Jeff took time to share a few of his thoughts with us, looking back over the years.

What do you find most rewarding about serving on the team at Highlands? Supporting people in their ministry and making the church function as well as possible.

What are some of the day to day aspects of your role on facilities staff? My task every shift is to check on how everything is going inside and outside the church, and to step in and help whenever my assistance is needed. Also to reset every room in the church on Saturday back to its expected setup for the coming Sunday.

Tell us about your family. My wife Keri and I were married in 1990 at Highlands by Jim Amandus. We have two kids, Emily who is 19 and working and James who is 17 and attending online classes, working toward his high school diploma.

What do you like best about attending Highlands? The many different opportunities to serve and the unwavering commitment to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Any favorite memories over the years? My favorite memories are the changing life of the body of HCC, as I’ve met people faithfully serving over the years from Care Circles to ushers, and all the other people in between. People are what is special about Highlands.

Do you have a favorite verse or passage in the Bible? Hebrews 12: 1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
