When we set our focus on intentionally living in a way that aligns with God’s purposes, there will be life-shaping opportunities for others and us. Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of seeing this in the lives of Mike and Lisa Brenner. Lisa works for Boeing and Mike has a commercial window washing business. I have loved hearing how they faithfully think about their work and time with family members. I have loved seeing them be sensitive to God’s purposes in those interactions. In all of this, there have been numerous life-giving, life-shaping events.

Mike and Lisa have a passion for reaching disadvantaged kids with the good news of Jesus. For several years, they have gone on trips to Honduras to serve the children there. While doing that, they sensed God was calling them to move to Honduras to minister to the people there. They spent time in the Scriptures to learn more about God’s missional perspective. They sought the counsel of godly believers, and have worked to both prepare for and explore how God would have them serve. And now, God has made clear how He wants them to serve next!

Mike and Lisa are currently building a home to disciple boys who will be attending a nearby Christian School in Puerto Lempira, Honduras. It has been so encouraging to read of the many ways God is paving the way for this ministry. I encourage you to email Lisa to get their updates ( There have been and will continue to be many wonderful, life-shaping interactions as they continue to live focused on God’s purposes.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
