Middle School Winter Retreat 2019
Nick Atherton

Thanks to God’s provision, Middle School Winter Retreat was a great success! Due to the extreme weather conditions, a last-minute adjustment needed to be made, which took us to Black Lake Bible Camp in Olympia. Black Lake Bible Camp was an absolute blessing and covered all of our needs with the added bonus of snow and beautiful views of Black Lake. We were able to get away and worship God, play in the snow, and participate in exciting group games with over 90 students and leaders!

It was clear that God had a plan and purpose for the weekend when He provided a location 48 hours before our set departure. The Spirit was moving as former intern, Scottie Hill, taught from Romans 6-7. With the theme “Set Free”, students learned they are free to choose, free to live, free to confess, and free to grow in Jesus. Through sound teaching and illustrations, students began to understand the true freedoms that come with a relationship with Christ.

Students also spent significant time in small groups where they were allowed to be more vulnerable and have deeper conversations. Our leaders consistently said that this time was a blessing, and how obvious it was that the students were truly understanding what it means to be “Set Free.” As the new Middle School Pastor, it was fun to watch our group grow both individually and as a family.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for those who attended, and all of the details in-between! Thanks to your support and giving, our students are able to experience intentional time in the Word, worshiping God, and growing in faith at Middle School Winter Retreat.
