At Highlands one of our core values is to develop and champion the next generation of ministry leaders. Our current sermon series in the book of 2nd Timothy is entitled Multiply: Building Godly Next Generation Leaders. As we go through the series, we'll be introducing just a few of the Next Gen leaders who are making a difference for Jesus in various roles, locally here at HCC and in ministries across the world!
Ministry that you serve and lead in:
Cru at Montana State University
What are some things you get to do as part of serving in your ministry?
Serving with Cru, I have the opportunity to share the Gospel daily with college students! In addition, I help lead a weekly meeting of over 200 students, facilitate multiple "D-groups" throughout the week, and disciple girls. Another major aspect of my role involves planning mission trips--this spring break, I'm leading a group of students to help with Hurricane Harvey Relief!
What do you enjoy about serving and leading?
What makes it meaningful to you?
Hands down, the thing I love most about my job is getting to share the Gospel daily. I love gushing about my Savior and seeing Him transform hearts and lives. Watching college students give their lives to Christ is unlike anything else!
How has Highlands helped support you or build into you as a ministry leader over the years?
Highlands has invested in my life since I was in fourth grade! Through many people pouring into me throughout my years there, I learned how to read the Bible, take steps of faith, and be bold in sharing with others. Highlands introduced me to a purposeful life of "Win, Build, Send."
How can we follow what you are doing in ministry? (i.e. blog, or email list)
If you email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, I can add you to my monthly email newsletter list!
Share a verse or scripture passage that is significant to you:
So many favorites, but Romans 10:14-15 has continually challenged me to be bold in sharing with others: "How then will they call on him whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!'"
Bonus question: what do you enjoy doing outside of ministry? (i.e. if you had an hour of free time...how might you use it?)
My main hobbies include hiking, running, watching the Seahawks and eating ice-cream. And most of my weekends are spent exploring the mountains or rivers alongside my husband, Zach.
