At Highlands one of our core values is to develop and champion the next generation of ministry leaders. Our current sermon series in the book of 2nd Timothy is entitled Multiply: Building Godly Next Generation Leaders. As we go through the series, we'll be introducing just a few of the Next Gen leaders who are making a difference for Jesus in various roles, locally here at HCC and in ministries across the world!

Ministry area that you lead at Highlands:
Children's and Student Ministries Worship

What are some things you get to do as part of your role on staff?
As a part of the Children's and Student Ministries staff here at Highlands, I get to work with and develop student leaders to help others find and follow Jesus through worshiping Him through song. I get to plan and help lead, worship sets for the Elementary, Middle School, and High School weekly services as well as for seasonal camps and retreats.

What do you enjoy about serving on our staff team & leading in ministry?
What makes it meaningful to you?

I greatly enjoy the various teams I get to work with here at Highlands. From the students on the worship team, to the staff team, I consistently find myself blessed to be surrounded by such excellent, God fearing people. Singing is an excellent way to hide God's word in one's heart. Worshiping God is an excellent way to experience the peace and joy that God designed for us to live in. When we worship God, we encourage those around us, and we are strengthened for trial. I am honored to lead the next generation in worshiping our God through song.

How has Highlands helped build into you as a ministry leader?
Highlands has transformed me from a worship manager into a worship leader through challenging my organizational and administrative agencies. I am learning how to be a better pastor through ruling over my administrative responsibilities, rather than letting them rule over me. Highlands has graciously allowed me to be a part of church wide strategic ministry planning. Through this process I have learned a great deal about the inner workings of church leadership. The staff team above me have been excellent examples of good leadership to me.

Name one or two ways that you desire to see the church make an impact on our community & beyond:
I hope to see Highlands continue to reach the lost, and be a home where people are known. I hope to see Highlands continue to develop followers of Jesus, as we walk with Him together through life.

Share a verse or scripture passage that is significant to you:
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God" - Colossians 3:16

Bonus question: what do you enjoy doing outside of ministry? (i.e. if you had an hour of free might you use it?)
I enjoy skiing with my friends, riding motocross with my Dad, surfing, and making delicious sandwiches.
