RED SOCK OFFERING GIFT TO COSTA RICA AWANA
Jerry Mays

A short-term mission team from HCC recently made a trip to Cartago, Costa Rica where they had the opportunity to partner with the Rey de Reyes church and the national Awana missionaries to host an Awana soccer camp. Children from the community came for a week of fun activities and also heard the gospel message taught through skits, Bible lessons, and small group time.  Members of the Rey de Reyes church did a great job of reaching out to the parents as well!

Before leaving Cartago, the team had the privilege of delivering to the Awana staff a gift from the children of Highlands Community Church to be used by the Rey de Reyes church to start an Awana club. Every year around Christmas, HCC children collect a Red Sock offering that then goes to a special project or need. This year, the gift was designated for the church in Costa Rica to purchase materials/curriculum to help get an Awana club started. On behalf of the Rey de Reyes church, Pastor Greiven sends a big “Thank You!” to the children of HCC for their generous support!

The church is eager to get an Awana club started, and a couple of days ago, we received word that they have already scheduled their Awana club leadership training for February 28! Please pray for Pastor Greiven and the Rey de Reyes church as they implement Awana as a tool to reach children and families in their community.
