REMEMBRANCE – INEZ WILSON
Highlands Community Church’s founding pastor’s wife, Inez Wilson went home to Jesus on June 13. She loved the Lord and faithfully served him throughout her life. Please join us in thanking the Lord for His dear daughter and her legacy that continues in us.
In 1943, Multnomah School of the Bible students Inez Kellogg and Wallace Wilson heard about a Bible camp on the Cedar River that had been founded to reach the children living in the WWII housing projects in the Renton area. For three summers, Wally and Inez helped run the camp and after graduating and getting married, they stayed in Renton to minister at the Highlands Protestant Sunday School. This led to the founding of Highlands Community Church in 1946. They invested their lives and hearts here until Wally’s retirement in 1989, and continued to volunteer at HCC even after it. Because of their obedience to the Lord and dependence on Him, Highlands Community Church is still sharing the gospel both locally and around the world.
Plans for a memorial service in Renton are to be determined as COVID-19 is complicating the situation.
