We're thankful for our awesome staff team members who are serving in ministry at Highlands! Staff Profiles is an opportunity for you to get to know each of them a bit better, and maybe even learn something about them you didn't know.

Tell us a bit about your background in a paragraph:

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my entire life and I love it here! I grew up on Vashon Island and moved to Renton as an adult. Awana was what brought me and my then five-year-old son to Highlands Community Church in 1989 and I've attended ever since.

Tell us about your role on staff at Highlands:

Before being on staff, I served in many areas here at church: Awana, choir, Moms ‘N’ Tots, Upward, and more. I enjoy being in a supportive role as I volunteer, so when a position opened on on staff, I was thrilled! I work with the Operations team in Finance and I love it!

Share a verse or passage of scripture that has impacted your life:

A key verse for me is I Corinthians 10:13. As I mature in Christ, it gives me an understanding that God is with me always. He is there to offer forgiveness, love, grace and salvation for those that believe in Him and ask for Jesus to be in their life.

What is something you enjoy about living in the Seattle area?

Living in the Pacific Northwest, I love the rain!! This area has so much to offer from the ocean to the mountains. I stay active by taking our family chihuahua for walks. My favorite indoor activity is Zumba!

What is something you love to do outside of serving in ministry?

Outside of church, one thing I enjoy is reading. I attend a women's book club group that meets monthly. I also enjoy hanging out with our adult children. We have Jacob, his wife Leesa, their daughter Jordan; Hannah, Joshua, and his fiancée, Kelsey.

Share a fun fact about yourself or something that most people don’t know about you:

My husband of 25 years, Michael, and I enjoy traveling. One of our frequent driving destinations is Montana. Both of us have family there. It's "only" 10 hours drive to my family and another 10 hours to Michael's family!
