STAFF PROFILES: PASTOR JIM MUNSON
We're thankful for our awesome staff team members who are serving in ministry at Highlands! Staff Profiles is an opportunity for you to get to know each of them a bit better, and maybe even learn something about them you didn't know.
Tell us a bit about your background in a paragraph:
I have been a pastor for 48 years (47 full time and one part time). I have a passion for the Kingdom of God and its visible expression in the city and communities in which I pastored. I developed relationships with the pastors and churches of my city, developing prayer communities which have blessed city leaders. I have a big heart for the poor and the church being generous to the poor. My primary spiritual gift is encouragement. I have been married 51 years to Kathy and I have two daughters and three wonderful grandchildren.
Tell us about your role on staff at Highlands:
I retired in 2017 and was asked in 2020 to become the Transitional Highlands Kent pastor. I am now a pastor at large (part time) and have a role assisting Nate Edmondson and also a role in caring for our staff.
Share a verse or passage of scripture that has impacted your life:
Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
What is something you enjoy about living in the Seattle area?
I love my grandchildren (three boys) and living with them, with animals visiting our yard (bears, cougars, coyotes, deer, and others).
What is something you love to do outside of serving in ministry?
Growing up with my grandchildren.
Share a fun fact about yourself or something that most people don’t know about you:
For 12 years I had the privilege of traveling around the world to connect pastors, congregations, ministries. What a joy!
