STAFF PROFILES: KRISTEN COLLEY

We're thankful for our awesome staff team members who are serving in ministry at Highlands! Staff Profiles is an opportunity for you to get to know each of them a bit better, and maybe even learn something about them you didn't know.

Tell us a bit about your background in a paragraph:

I've been attending Highlands for 22 years and began attending as a brand new believer. I'm married to my husband, Doug, and we have three kids - Sara, 24, Megan, 22, and Simon, 15. I got involved in Moms ‘n’ Tots, God's Love Express, and other Tuesday morning ministries while I was a stay at home mom with my kids for the first 16 years. These ministries were a tremendous blessing in my life as a new believer, navigating what marriage and motherhood looked like as a Christian. I made amazing friendships and mentor relationships that I still have and cherish today.

Tell us about your role on staff at Highlands:

I have been serving on staff as the God's Love Express Director for five years now. This is a mid-week children's program that partners with Women's Ministries to provide teaching and care for kids while women attend onsite Bible studies. Two years ago, I added Next Gen Admin Assistant to my role on staff, as well.

Share a verse or passage of scripture that has impacted your life:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” This verse has been instrumental in helping direct my heart and thoughts in good times and difficult times.

What is something you enjoy about living in the Seattle area?

I really enjoy the ability to get to the mountains, the ocean, or the city all in a short amount of time. I have loved raising my kids in an area where we can experience such a variety of nature and activities. We make a list each summer of favorite things to do and a few new places to explore. One thing we have done every summer, even when our kids were very young, is go to Shakespeare in the Park with a picnic dinner. One year, we saw Julius Caesar while eating Little Caesar's pizza. Super fun family memories!

What is something you love to do outside of serving in ministry?

I love to vacation and travel with my family. Any time all five of us can be together outside of the usual routine is really fun for me.

Share a fun fact about yourself or something that most people don’t know about you:

I grew up in Montana and it is still one of my favorite places to return to for visiting family or vacationing.
