STAFF PROFILES: PASTOR KERRY WARREN

We’re thankful for our awesome staff team members who are serving in ministry at Highlands! Staff Profiles is an opportunity for you to get to know each of them a bit better, and maybe even learn something about them you didn’t know.

Tell us a bit about your background in a paragraph:

I have been in vocational ministry since 2000, serving in a church in SoCal from 2002 until 2016 as a family and children’s pastor. Prior to 2000, I worked for The Boeing Company in aerospace for 13 years as a project manager and quality engineer. In 2016, my family and I moved to Washington to take the role of Executive Pastor of Operations for a church in Kirkland. In January 2020, I transitioned to the same role here at Highlands. I have a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and Christian Studies and a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in operations management.

Tell us about your role on staff at Highlands:

I love serving behind the scenes in the local church. While the church is an organism, it is also an organization that can benefit from a strong business operations model. I have a unique perspective having served in upfront ministry and having my business background. I have the opportunity to oversee Highlands’ finance department, facilities, information system administration, human resources, and communications.

Share a verse or passage of scripture that has impacted your life:

My life verse is Matthew 25:23, where Jesus tells the parable of the talents and when to the servant who had gained more talents, Jesus says, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy.” My desire is to stand before Jesus one day and hear those words from Him.

What is something you enjoy about living in the Seattle area?

My whole family is here in the Northwest. We all moved up here about the same time. I love the outdoors and how everything is sooooo green!

What is something you love to do outside of serving in ministry?

I love hanging out with my four (and a soon to be five) grandchildren. There is nothing better than being an influence in their lives and watching them grow. I also like to take walks with my wife and take family vacations.

Share a fun fact about yourself or something that most people don’t know about you:

My wife and I met on a blind date. I fell in love and moved from central California back down to SoCal to be with her. I also enjoy hockey. I should have been born in Canada. I would have played a lot more.
