STAFF PROFILES: ZEB GREENFIELD

We're thankful for our awesome staff team members who are serving in ministry at Highlands! Staff Profiles is an opportunity for you to get to know each of them a bit better, and maybe even learn something about them you didn't know.

Tell us a bit about your background in a paragraph:

I grew up in Fairbanks, AK, left home at the age of 19, and haven't lived there since. My wife and I have been married since 2011, and have lived in California, Washington, Nevada, and Ohio. Our oldest daughter was born in Renton and our youngest was born in Las Vegas.

Tell us about your role on staff at Highlands:

I am passionate about creating and curating great experiences for people and I strive to remove unnecessary barriers for people to find hope, community, and belonging. I love that I get to connect with those who have just started attending our church and helping them plug into our church family.

Share a verse or passage of Scripture that has impacted your life:

One of the promises of Jesus that has always challenged my faith is found in John 14:12, "Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father."

What is something you enjoy about living in the Seattle area?

Favorite restaurant - Crockett's Public House (Maple Valley & Puyallup). Favorite coffee shop - Boon Boona (Downtown Renton). I love the ability to go to the water or to the snow in less than an hour.

What is something you love to do outside of serving in ministry?

I love watching and cheering for the Seahawks! I also enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, and eating good food.

Share a fun fact about yourself or something that most people don’t know about you:

Even though I grew up in Alaska, I have never skied or snowboarded in my life. I also value all of my limbs. =)

Zeb confirmed as community pastor

We want to provide you an update on Zeb's position at Highlands. Zeb was originally hired in his role as a director and we are excited to announce he has been confirmed as a pastor and is now our Community Pastor.

The elders have formally reviewed Zeb’s qualifications and ordination and agreed with the decision to name him as our Community Pastor. The elder board confirmed Zeb's elder qualifications through two interviews with Zeb and his family and determined that he meets Biblical elder qualifications. We also confirmed that Zeb had been ordained by Temple Baptist Church in California. Two Highlands elders and a Highlands pastor interviewed an elder of that church and determined that the ordination process of Temple Baptist, which includes a thorough examination and an oral exam, aligns with the process at Highlands. The Temple Baptist elders unanimously approved Zeb's ordination and laid hands on him in a Sunday morning church service. Highlands accepts that ordination.

On May 4, Highlands' elders and elder candidates laid hands on Zeb and confirmed him as a pastor at Highlands Community Church. We embrace Zeb as our Community Pastor and are grateful to God for providing Zeb for our church at this time.
