Life Changing Season of Upward Basketball and Cheer
Jennica Osborne

Throughout the last 3 months, the 14th season of HCC Upward Basketball and Cheerleading has been underway. Nearly 70% of the 344 participants did not attend Highlands. Our families and Upward Team have been coming off the bleachers to welcome, love and build relationships with those from the community.

Families were changed for eternity as 6 children prayed with coaches to receive Jesus as Lord. At the Awards Night, 16 adults and another student all responded to the Gospel. Praise God for life change! At Highlands, we want to see all adults, students and kids find and follow Jesus. What fun it has been for us this season to watch this happen right before our eyes as coaches invested in young athletes, as referees encouraged players both on and off the court, as concessions workers reminded families that they matter to God and to us, and as prayer partners spent time on their knees.

For those who attended the Upward Awards Night, we got to see the joy of the Lord present in a room packed full of enthusiastic young athletes waving “spirit towels” as we celebrated a great season. We are grateful for the opportunity to communicate to the community around us that people matter. All glory to God for another life-changing season of Upward!
