Please join us in welcoming Kerry Warren as our new Executive Pastor of Operations! We are excited about the Lord’s provision, and for how Kerry will impact our ministry at HCC in this highly strategic role. Kerry will be joining our staff team beginning in mid-January. As you see Kerry and his family around, be sure to give them a warm welcome!

Kerry shared the following note with us which includes info about his background and why he is excited to be joining the team at Highlands:

My wife Susan and I have been serving together in ministry for over 35 years. Recently I have been serving as the Executive Pastor of Operations at Northshore Community Church in Kirkland since August 2016. Susan and I have been married for 35 years and have two grown children and four grandchildren. Our son, Curtis, is the Middle School Pastor at Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood, and our daughter Tiffany is an ICU Nurse at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma. My whole family moved up to Washington from California in 2016.

I grew up attending church but didn’t develop a personal relationship with Jesus until my middle school years. During that time, a volunteer in the youth group saw leadership potential in me that I didn’t see in myself. This volunteer didn’t just tell me about Jesus, but also showed me who Jesus is through his life and pouring into me. Before becoming a full-time pastor, I worked for Boeing Aerospace Division in Southern California for nearly 14 years as a project manager on a variety of government contracts and internal process improvement projects.

After Boeing, I served as a Family Pastor at The Grove Community Church in Riverside, California for over 20 years. During my time there, I was instrumental in building children’s programming that involved over 1,000 children in weekly attendance. I also oversaw a mid-week preschool that reached over 250 children with over 40 staff. I have helped coordinate capital improvement projects for the church and helped develop best practices for budgeting and financial reporting. I have two bachelor’s degrees, one in Management Information Systems and another in Christian Studies. I also hold a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Operations Management.

I am very excited to be joining the Highlands team in helping people find and follow Jesus. I have a passion to see the church excel in bringing the gospel message to a deprived world. My desire is to be intentionally involved in my family members’ lives, leaving them a strong Christian legacy, and to help Highlands Community Church be the best church that it can possibly be.
