Tom Dabasinskas – Adult Ministries Pastor

How has God been at work in your life? I recently asked this simple question of some people and I was encouraged by what I heard:
“I was stuck in self-destructive habits until God set me free.”
“I felt alone and unloved until other people helped me see how much Jesus loves me.”
“I didn’t realize how my selfishness was hurting me and others until God opened my eyes.”

These were some of the encouraging stories of people who were baptized this Easter. I had the privilege of hearing more of their stories from some of these people. I can assure you that the details of what God has done in their lives is even more astonishing and wonderful.

Each of the people who was baptized felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as they prepared to proclaim what God has done in their lives. Afterwards, each of them also said that taking this step of faith was an encouragement to them! Sharing our story will bless others and ourselves!

So what is your God story? How has God been at work in your life? I encourage you to take some time to reflect on that question. How could you summarize in a sentence what God has been doing in your life? If someone asked for more details, what would you share? The idea of sharing this with someone else will probably evoke some anxiety in you. It also will probably be the very thing God uses to bring the encouragement of faith, hope and love to someone else.

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15
