About 13 years ago, HCC sent a dedicated couple to the Nyamwezi tribe in Tanzania. It was a mission of hope and love with two goals: to spread the good news of salvation and bring life-sustaining water to the people of Tanzania. To that end, mission efforts focused on drilling pumps and conducting Bible studies in the surrounding villages—with the long-term goal of raising local leaders who would carry on this vital ministry and ensure that the light of salvation continued to shine upon the Nyamwezi tribe.

This year, by God’s grace, we were blessed with the opportunity to visit and encourage our missionaries and witness the flourishing churches that have since taken root, thanks to the five-year ministry of our devoted and retired missionaries, Pastor Tim and Cathy Bong.

We were encouraged to learn that one of the missionaries we support has planted nine additional churches, which he is serving itinerantly. The other missionary has similarly planted and is serving eight new churches.

Thanks to the generosity of our congregation, HCC continues to invest in these 17 church plants. Our goal is to continue this support until each church plant has its own dedicated leader. Once the primary missionary becomes free from the responsibility of itinerant shepherding multiple churches, he will focus on developing new missionaries and church plants. By God‘s grace, these new missionaries will continue to reach the Nyamwezi tribe with the good news of salvation.

Please continue to pray fervently for these clusters of churches and the courageous new leaders stepping forward to serve in the most impoverished and hostile environments. Your prayers and support are not just appreciated—they are essential. Together, we can bring hope and the life-changing message of salvation to the Nyamwezi tribe.
