MEMBERSHIP
How individual church members live together as God's family and serve together as Christ's body.
We believe that the Bible teaches that each Christian is a member of God’s family (Ephesians 2:19) and a part of Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 12:28). Church membership is a practical way that our church lives out this reality in relationship with the Lord and with each other. In addition, church membership is also required for many leadership roles in our church.
First Step: Membership Class
We offer our membership class a couple of times a year. The class takes place during two, 1-hour sessions and covers the following topics.
Why Church Membership?
We will cover what the Bible says about membership, including what is the church and what is a church.
What unites Us?
We will review Highlands’ Statement of Faith and Membership Covenant, the two documents which our members joyfully affirm together.
What is church discipline?
We explore how we live in loving relationship and accountability with one another.
How Is Highlands organized?
We will learn about Highlands’ governance and leadership structure.

Step 3: Membership Conversation
After your Membership Application is submitted. A member of our staff will reach out to schedule a Membership Conversation with one of our elders & another member of our church. This conversation is an opportunity for us to get to learn more about you, for you to meet some of the other leaders of our church, and for you to ask any questions you have about our church.
Step 4: Elder Approval
Our Board of Elders meets the third Tuesday of each month. At their monthly meeting they will review any pending Membership Applications, pray for you, and approve you for Membership at Highlands. Once approved, a member of our staff will reach out to you with confirmation of your Membership status and more details about next steps.
