My wife Lizzie and I got married in July of 2023, and we bought a house in the Renton Highlands a month later. Highlands Community Church welcomed us in October of 2023, giving us the blessing to hear the word of God, worship Him and to be closer to Him. I began reading the Bible and routinely praying again, so the Lord could lead me in all things. I had always called myself a follower of Christ, but it was around this time I felt a need to look inward and assess whether I was truly following Him
”I lived my life how I thought it should be lived and I ultimately did what I wanted to do at all times.
Consequently, I recognized my faith had, at large, been asleep for a long time. My lifestyle simply felt distant from His presence. I understood the main Gospel message of Jesus’ sacrifice and forgiveness, yet I routinely took His love for granted. I knew about Christ, but it was finally time for me to get to know Him personally. It was through attending gatherings at Highlands that I made the decision to fully trust in Jesus as my personal Savior and dedicate my life to following and serving Him..
Neither Lizzie nor I had a church to call home for several years prior to coming to Highlands, but we immediately felt like this was a place we could develop spiritually and relationally. We joined a wonderful community group, with whom we enjoy meeting every Thursday to discuss sermons, bible passages, and various works of Christian literature to
continue maturing in our faith. Understanding His Word more clearly than I ever had before, I felt a calling to declare my faith publicly to the congregation by getting baptized in August.
Overall, Highlands became the bridge that has brought us closer to Jesus and our new community as a whole and we are incredibly blessed to be a part of this church.
